‘Wink woman’ Priya Varrier tops list of most googled personalities

Priya Prakash Varrier, the Malayalam actress who tasted success following her ‘wink wink’ moment in the romantic song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi...’ was titled as the most googled personality of the year, Google India said on Wednesday.

The ‘Oru Adaar Love’ actress was followed by Nick Jonas — Priyanka Chopra’s husband — among most searched personalities of the year. However, Chopra ranked fourth on the list.

Sapna Choudhary, the well-known dancer and performer bagged the second position on the list. The fifth position was secured by Sonam Kapoor’s beau Anand Ahuja.

Google’s “Year in search” list also revealed people’s keen interest in royal weddings. It included Meghan Markle, the American actor and the Duchess of Sussex. 

The top five search terms were, “How to..” were - “how to send stickers on WhatsApp”, “how to link Aadhaar with mobile number”, “how to make rangoli”, “how to port mobile number” and even, “how to invest in bitcoin”.

Some of the funny and interesting search topics were, “What is...” were - “what is section 377”, “what is happening in Syria”, “what is kiki challenge”, “what is me too campaign”, “what is ball tampering”.

In addition to all of this, in 2018, fields of sports and entertainment romped about in the top trending charts. Google revealed questions about the FIFA World Cup 2018 and the Indian Premier League (IPL).
