Udta Punjab has been in the making for a year now and the film that revolves around the murkier world of drugs, addictions and hallucinations has caused a lot of furore for its bold content. The Censors had called for 81 cuts in the film, thereby harming the essence of the Shahid Kapoor starrer.

The filmmakers did not take it lightly this time. Instead, they were joined by other prominent Bollywood faces in their battle for freedom of speech and expression. But the biggest question that remains in all our heads now is whether the film will eventually hit screens next week.

Initially, the film was scheduled for a June 17 release but now with the ongoing controversy and with no solution to it, the makers might decide to postpone the film.

Says a source from the production, "That's definitely one of the options but the makers are trying to do all it takes to get the matter sorted and release Udta Punjab as it is. They won't agree with the Censors if they ask for some obnoxious cuts in the film anymore. So if that takes time, then the film might not release next Friday. But it seems unlikely."
