Actor Imran Khan may have played hero to many female actors on screen but in real life, he has a soft corner for someone else. And no, we're not talking about women here — Imran apparently loves four legged creatures — both cats and dogs. In fact, when Imran was approached to be the face of the upcoming Mumbai Cyclothon, he instantly jumped on to it because the event was also touted to be associated with an animal shelter. A dog lover himself, Imran said that he always felt strongly about animals.

"I've always taken in as many animals as I could in my hand. Currently I'm in a situation where I cannot accommodate any more," he laughs. And what's his wife Avantika's reaction to this passion of his? "Luckily for me, she shares my views when it comes to animal causes. She has her own pet dog. And fortunately I live in a bungalow so I have enough space to make the dogs and my three cats feel at ease. I think most animal lovers are not able to take care of strays because of space constraints," he rues.

The actor is currently preparing himself to cycle his way to the cyclothon on April 24 and said that he's always believed in natural forms of fitness as opposed to pumping iron in a gym. "I find the gym very boring. I get put off by the very thought of working out in a closed space and in a mechanical fashion. I like to do practical things instead," said Imran.

So, how does he stay fit? "I've always been very particular about fitness. So you'll find me cycling or playing open door sports. I love martial arts — I don't have a belt as such, but I learnt the ropes for a few forms while working on Kidnap. I even indulged in kick-boxing for a while. It's a lot of fun and unless I'm having fun, no fitness routing really works for me," Imran concluded.
