Sonam Kapoor, who plays braveheart flight attendant Neerja Bhanot in Ram Madhvani’s film, wants to make sure she does all the possible research while she is simultenously shooting for the film. The actress had a meeting with Neerja’s family before starting work on the film and spoke about how she wanted to portray the character of this unsung hero in the most accurate manner.

Our source reveals, “Sonam has been in touch with Neerja’s family and met her mother Rama and brothers, Aneesh and Akhil, to discuss her life as part of research for the film. Sonam understands how difficult it must be for the flight attendant’s family to lose a daughter and a sister and is making sure she goes about her character in the most sensitive way possible. In fact, when she met them, she showed them her look in the film. The family was happy to see that her life being portrayed on screen, was being handled with care.

ABOUT NEERJANeerja Bhanot was a 23-year-old flight attendant who saved many lives during the 1986 hijacking of an American airliner in Karachi. Neerja was awarded the Ashoka Chakra posthumously, the youngest civilian in the country to be bestowed with the honour.
