After releasing the highly anticipated trailer of his new movie Baahubali: The Beginning on Monday, director SS Rajamouli spoke about the inspirations behind the mega-project.

Speaking at the trailer launch of movie in Mumbai, Rajamouli revealed that the inspiration for Baahubali came from the epic Mahabharata.

He said that Mahabharata inspired both parts of Baahubali. Epics Mahabharata and Ramayana played muse for all his movies, the director revealed. Rajamouli got his emotional connect from these scriptures.

Karan Johar and cast of the movie including Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia were present at the unveiling of trailer in Mumbai.

Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has bought theatrical rights of the Hindi version of the film.

Part one of Baahubali: The Beginning will release on July 10.
