Wednesday fever grips B-Town

Fridays for Bollywood spells nothing but anxiety, nervousness and excitement. After all, that’s when their films see the light of day and seal their fate at the box-office. But for many top stars, Friday fever is going to be replaced by ‘Wonder Wednesdays’ in the coming months now. After all, that’s the day when the TRPs (Target Rating Points) of a TV show are declared.

With Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan et al set to reign the small screens for the next few months, all eyes and prayers are obviously going to be rivetted on the Wednesday results.

Actor R Madhavan, who’s already hosting a show, agrees. “Yes, earlier we would only look forward and pray for Fridays, but now Wednesdays are getting just about equal attention, if not more!” Actor Priyanka Chopra, who’s also hosting a show on the small screen, admits to feeling the anxiety pangs on Wednesdays.

“Of course I pray for good TRPs. It’s harder to say which days are more important though, Fridays or Wednesdays,” she laughs.
For Salman Khan, however, Fridays or Wednesdays are the outlook of the producers.

“I am here to do a good job of entertaining my audiences and put in my best towards that. The TRPs are not my motivation, just like the box-office results have never been my lone target when I do a film. But yes, I will keep my fingers crossed for Wednesdays now!” says the actor, who’ll be seen hosting Bigg Boss in its fourth season.

“Well, the small screen’s not so small anymore! So, yes Wednesdays are as important as Fridays and no one can override their importance, even though personally we are unlikely to lose sleep over it,” says Akshay Kumar, who’s all set to host Master Chef India.  Incidentally, Shah Rukh Khan too has admitted to being Wednesday wary in the past during his stint as a host. “Well, personally it may mean nothing, but it’s importance cannot be overlooked,” he’d said back then.

And since then, Wonder Wednesdays are here to stay!
