This new mystery casts the Academy Award nominee as tortured Braylin philosophy professor Abe Lucas, who is besieged with doubts and in the midst of writer's block, reported Digital Spy. That all changes when he begins simultaneous affairs with a young student (Emma Stone) and a Braylin townie (Parker Posey), before an even stranger mystery develops.

After spending the previous years shooting in Europe, Allen returned to the US to film Irrational Man in scenic Newport, Rhode Island.

Irrational Man received a warm reception at its world premiere at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival in May. Sony Pictures Classics releases Irrational Man on July 17 in the US, while Warner Bros handles its release in the UK on September 11.
