Vivek Oberoi is blessed and blissed
The actor says that he has much to thank Bappa for this year.

Actor Vivek Oberoi’s work may be keeping him busy all year long, but the Bolly star reveals that he always makes sure to be home for Ganapati and this year has been no different. Despite his hectic schedule, the actor returned home well in time to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi and gorge on all the festive delicacies. “The modaks, pooranpolis, karanjis... All the excitement... I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world. I remember visiting the houses of all my friends who have Bappa at home and enjoying the sweets,” says Vivek, who also brings Ganeshji home each year.
“Being a Mumbaikar, the festival has always been an integral part of my growing years. The festive spirit, everyone celebrating, it’s like the city comes alive in the truest way. And living by the sea has made it all the more special. The place reverberates with the sounds of Ganapati Bappa Morya as everyone bids adieu to their beloved Bappa on the day of the visarjan. The experience of seeing all that is amazing,” adds the actor.
While the excitement hasn’t dimmed a bit over the years, what has changed, says Vivek is that today people are getting more environment conscious. “Living so close to the sea I know the kind of damage that synthetic idols cause to the habitat. I believe in the cause myself and that’s the reason I fully support DNA’s initiative of making and encouraging eco-friendly Ganapati idols,” says Vivek. “Infact, it’s the best way to thank Him.”
So what is he praying for this year? “Well, every year there are things I would ask for. But this year, I think he has already given me so much more that I am only thanking him. I feel blessed and ‘blissed’!” smiles Vivek. With nine biggies — including his upcoming Kismet Love Paisa Dilli (KLPD) and Krrish 3 — under his belt, the soon-to-be dad is on a personal high too. “Yes, I feel like I’m on cloud nine. I can’t wait to welcome our angel home and its difficult to explain the feeling,” adds Vivek, whose wife Priyanka is expecting their first baby early in February next year.
