Instituted by Uthup's Stagecraft, professionals of several categories, including technicians, sound-recordists, make-up artistes and costume designers will be awarded in different categories in the move, the singer told PTI here.

When the actor sought to know why he was chosen for this initiative in the first place, the singer told him, "You are the best and that is reason enough. You are the heartthrob of people in age groups of 8 to 80 years. I could not imagine who would be more appropriate to care so much for the industry people."

Prosenjit said, "With over 10 lakhs of people eking out their livelihood from Bengali film industry I wish there were more recognitions for their role in making the unbelievable true and lifelike before the lens.

"We are a family. We are a unit who stay together and eat together. So why the light should fall on only one side," Prosenjit wondered.

Usha said, "When I broached the topic, many from the technician fraternity were loath to believe they are also capable of getting an award, that they deserve an award... I believe this sense of disbelief will remain till their names are announced on the day of award. And Bengal has set the norm like many other things in past.

"We would make it bigger from next year, introducing other categories like music and stage play," Prosenjit said.
