Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has urged the makers of Udta Punjab, which is embroiled in a censorship battle, to continue their fight with the censor board till the end.The Abhishek Chaubey-directed film that delves into the drug menace in the state of Punjab, faced troubles with Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) which demanded 89 cuts in the film. It also included removal of the word 'Punjab' word from the movie as well its title.

Kapur faced similar situation during his 1994 Phoolan Devi biopic - Bandit Queen and even approached the Supreme Court for the release of the film. Kapur took to his twitter account and tweeted:

Udta Punjab starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh is scheduled for release on June 17.Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, Mahesh Bhatt, Sudhir Mishra among others have come out in support of Udta Punjab in the ongoing tussle of the movie with the Censor Board.
