Sakshi Tanwar who is known for her role in Ekta Kapoor's Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki will portray the role of Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons. Other actors rumoured to join Tanwar are Anita Hassanandani of Ye Hai Mohabbatein who will play Cersei Lannister and Parth Samthaan of MTV's Kaisi Yeh Yaariyaan who will play the role of Jon Snow.

This adaptation of George RR Martins novels is set in 1857. It will revolve around the time of Indian rebellion against the East India Company.

Just like the original series, which is known for its production value and massive budget of $6 million per episode, Rani Mahal too will be one of the most expensive daily soaps on the small screen.

The biggest challenge this series will face is manoeuvring around the censorship rules of Indian silver screen. Will they pull it off? Wait and watch!
