TV actress Narayani Shastri to debut in Bollywood

TV actress Narayani Shastri, who shot to fame with her roles in serials like Piya Ka Ghar and Kyun Ki..., is all set to debut on the big screen with Hindi flick Na Ghar Ke Na Ghat Ke.

The movie has been produced and directed by Rahul Aggarwal, who also doubles up as the main lead in the movie.

"I was involved with some behind the scene aspects of the movie 'Na Ghar..' right from the beginning. Though many girls were auditioned for the part, none fitted the bill. At that time, the Rahul suggested to cast me as the lead," the 31-year-old told PTI. Narayani said the shift to the movie world was completely unplanned.

"I never plan anything in my life. My experience has been man proposes and God disposes. Therefore, it is better to go with the flow ."

Narayani, who made her TV debut on DD with Kahani Saat Pheron Ki has played the lead in Piya Ka Ghar besides pivotal roles in Kyun Ki, Mamta, and recent Namak Haram.

She played Rimjhim in Piya Ka Ghar, Kesar in Kyunki, and the negative character of Tashu in Kkusum. The actor replaced Neha Mehta in 'Mamta' to play the lead role.

Narayani, who has been on TV for a decade or so, is playing a simple village girl, Mithilesh, in the movie. "How this village belle adjusts to the modern lifestyle of Mumbai after her marriage forms the crux of the movie," she said.

"I have been on TV and done that. I have played characters of all shades, good, bad and ugly." "Therefore, I took a break... returned with Namak Haram, which was really different and exciting in which I was playing an IAS officer. However, unfortunately, both the channel and serial went off air abruptly," she rued. The actor was also all praise for her co-stars in the movie, Paresh Rawal and Neena Gupta.

"Though they are veteran actors, they did not carry the seniority baggage. They were chilled out. We had fun," she said adding the movie is expected to be released by March. The other cast of the movie includes Om Puri and Rai Kisen.
