'This incident has once again proved there's no safety compliance': Kamal Haasan on 'Indian 2' mishap

On Wednesday, a crane collapsed on the sets of Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles. This led to the death of three technicians and 10 of them were injured. Both Kamal and Kajal had a narrow escape. Lyca Productions had tweeted about the accident with a statement and condoled the death of Krishna who was an assistant director, art assistant named Chandran and Madhu, who was a production assistant.

Talking about his narrow escape and the whole accident, Kamal told Mumbai Mirror, "If the crane had fallen a few inches away, I’d have been in the mortuary and somebody would have been here to speak." The veteran actor-filmmaker also called out the film industry for not providing safe conditions. He said, "I have been in this industry since my childhood, and this incident has once again proved that there is no safety compliance. We boast about big-budget films... without providing safety to people working for the movies."

Kamal also announced Rs 1 crore financial aid to the families of three people who lost their lives. While producers Lyca Productions announced Rs 2 crore compensation to the families of the deceased and injured.

While Kajal had tweeted about it stating, "Words cannot describe the heartache I feel at the unexpected, untimely loss of my colleagues from last night.Krishna, Chandran and Madhu. Sending love, strength and my deepest condolences to your families. May God give strength in this moment of desolation. #Indian2 @LycaProductions".
