After quietly pursuing her interior assignments for years, Sussanne Roshan is finally stepping into the professional limelight. She opened her own décor store The Charcoal Project two years ago.

The designer, who’s participating in the upcoming India Design ID 2013, that will be held in New Delhi, tied-up with an e-commerce site The Home Label three months ago. Talking about venturing into the online space, Sussanne says, “The e-commerce market in India is small, but there is immense growth. We felt that there was no well styled, curated destination where consumers could discover and shop for new home décor items. We want to reach to more consumers who are interested in transforming their living space into a dream home.”

She also believes in connecting with her consumers and the website now has a blog section that shares simple tips to help people spruce up their homes with trendy yet well-priced products. “My advice would be keep it innovative and simple, it’s all in the details. Your space should be design centric and timeless,” she says.

“One should never use décor items in the most obvious manner but get creative. A  room can get a completely different point of view simply by moving things around,” she adds.

Curator for the site, Sussanne has selected items she loves but keeping the price points in mind. “We want to reach a wider audience across the country from metro cities to smaller ones,” she explains.

And what does she foresee as the décor trends for this new year? “Certain trends of 2012 will continue such as a collected eclectic look. No more matching everything! Creating a personal space with individual things you love is so much easier on the wallet and really expresses your creativity,” adds Sussanne.
