Trank was reportedly fired from Star Wars after people at Disney and Lucasfilm heard he was "erratic" and sometimes "very isolated" while filming The Fantastic Four.

Due to those issues, producers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker allegedly had to step in to "pull the film together".

The Chronicle helmer has not responded to the rumour, but a spokesman for 21st Century Fox insists the studio is "very happy with the movie and we can't wait for audiences to see it."

They, however, acknowledge "there were definitely some bumps in the road."
