Celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi, Soha Ali Khan visited the Andheri Cha Raja. After she shared the photographs of her offering prayer to Lord Ganesha, the reaction that the tweet incurred is everything that is wrong with polarization by religion.

But what followed is a shame for what seems to be, the humanity as a whole. Not just was her integrity as a Muslim questioned but some of the Twitter users stooped a new low by resorting to abuses.

Earlier in September, she made a similar stir when she visited the Golden Temple at Amritsar and posted some photographs.

In a response to MidDay, over this recent spate of lambaste, her reply is as rational as it ever could have been.

"My religion is my business alone. Whether I choose to do namaz or go to a church, how does it affect anyone? People shouldn’t bother about what’s not their business. I am all for freedom of expression, but being told how going to a temple makes me a non-Muslim is plain callous. No one has the right to say that. I am not a commodity and so, a particular community cannot own me. Our social fabric is so rich because we are diverse. Respect each other’s choices,”, she said. From some of those who lauded her for being so liberal and embracing both the religions, the others should take a lesson.
