Shalini walks out of ‘Hari Mirchi Lal Mirchi’!

Allegedly, director Rajesh Gupta’s temper is being cited as the reason for the actor’s decision

Actor Shalini Kapoor has decided to quit producer Rakesh Chowdhary’s show ‘Hari Mirchi Lal Mirchi’ (DD). A source reveals, “Shalini didn’t get along with the director Rajesh Gupta. She faced several problems with him, which developed to such an extent that the two could not communicate anymore. She had no option  left.”

When contacted, Shalini brushed aside professional discord as her reason to quit. Instead, she cited her inability to juggle too many assignments as the reason for her quitting the show. She says, “I am acting in ‘Solhah Singarr’ (Sahara One) as well. Plus, I have a few film assignments on my hand. I had to let go of one project. So, I quit ‘Hari…’.” However, when probed if the director was the reason, she maintained a studied silence. “I have shared my reason with Rakeshji,” is all that she is willing to divulge.

Apparently, this is not the first time that an actor has got upset with Rajesh. The director has been infamous for his alleged temper. “Rajesh has had showdowns with other actors as well. He reacts strongly and often has embarrassed actors by shouting at them in front of everybody. Most actors have started giving him a cold shoulder. However, he is trying to mellow down now,” adds  another source. 

When contacted, producer Chowdhary said, “It is sad that Shalini is leaving. She is a good actor. But I feel that if an actor has any issue it must be resolved. He can’t just leave the show in the middle. We could suffer losses because of an actor’s resignation. Actors also need to understand that directors work under pressure. Even if the director did say something, I am sure he didn’t mean it.”  When contacted, Rajesh denied any showdown with his actors.
