Shabana Azmi replaces Urvashi Sharma on 'Ek Maa Jo Lakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma'
Shabana Azmi is the new Amma
She played an underworld don in The Godmother 17 years ago and now Shabana Azmi is all set to play the role of a mafia queen in the TV serial Ek Maa Jo Lakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma, reports a tabloid. She is replacing Urvashi Sharma who opted out of the show post the leap.
The serial is loosely based on the female don Jenabai Daruwali. A bootlegger she was among the first few female mafia players in the 70s. Shabana’s character in The Godmother was based on the life of Santokben Jadega, mafia don of Porbandar Gujarat. The actress won a National Award for the film.
Shabana started shooting for the serial on Tuesday.
