Sandalwood: Will Sanju and Geetha unite again?

While 2011 has seen many hits, none of the directors have tasted success like Nagashekhar, whose Sanju Weds Geetha became a cult hit with youngsters. Now, the director has teamed up with his trusted cameraman Sathya Hegde. “When good scripts come by one’s way, anyone can produce a film,” maintains Nagashekhar.

Explaining why he zeroed in on this particular film, Gandhi Class, Nagashekhar says, “This script caught my fancy immediately. When Sathya and I decided to launch our production house Lemon Mega Pictures, we wanted to ensure great scripts reach our audience. The fact that this also was written by a friend of ours (Thushar Ranganath of Ghulama and Kanteerava fame) was reason enough for us to back it.”

The film Gandhi Class is a comedy, which has a very mass appeal. “I was very fortunate that my good friend Srinagara Kitti agreed to give me his dates readily when he heard this script. I’m also hoping to get Ramya to give her nod. I want our Sanju Weds Geetha team to get together again. Ramya’s yet to hear the script, but I’m sure I’ll have her support,” says Nagashekhar, who plans to start off his maiden production on the auspicious Vijayadashami day (October 6).

Apart from Gandhi Class, Nagashekhar is also gearing up for his next directorial venture. “I’m in the process of finishing the script. I’ve titled my film Anjaneya. This will be a beautiful romantic story again. The idea behind the story is if that Anjaneya (Lord Hanuman) carried a mountain for his devotion, this Anjaneya will endure all the pain for his love,” says Nagashekhar.

The director is currently looking at scouting the right locations before zeroing in on the casting for Anjaneya. “The technical team will be the same that were part of Sanju Weds Geetha. This script is coming out so well that I have begun to feel that Anjaneya will be my first film as a director despite the fact that I’ve done two films before that,” says Nagashekhar, who assures that this film will not disappoint his fans’ expectations.
