It’s not very often that you spot a married actress aged 31 still at the top of her game in the film industry down south. And Samantha Akkineni is surely one woman who’s changing the game. In an industry where marriage is considered a doom for actresses, Samantha not only went ahead to sign big-budgeted star flicks in not one but two film industries (Telugu and Tamil), she also gave one of the biggest hits in 2018 in India in the form of Rangasthalam co-starring Ram Charan.

In 2019 too, Samantha Akkineni has a lot happening for her. While she’s one of the leads in the much talked about multi-starrer in Tamil, Super Deluxe, she will also be seen in Majili in which she co-stars with husband Naga Chaitanya for the first time after their wedding.

Even as she promotes both the films which are up for release (Super Deluxe on March 29 and Majili on April 5), she’s being bombarded with various questions related to her life and career after marriage. But one question that has been discussed in quite a few interviews is her plans to have children.

“When I have a child, that child is going to be my universe. I had the greatest respect for working mothers. My childhood was not very rosy. For all adults, who haven’t had a very rosy childhood, the first thing they will tell you is that they want to give their child everything that they did not have. That’s something that has stuck with me. So I think the first few years after I have a child, I would not be anywhere. That child will be everything for me (sic),” she said in an interview.

Interestingly, while many working women are miffed with these questions, Samantha seemed quite a sport. When asked in another interview if these questions got to her and if they were appropriate to be asked, Samantha said in approval that she felt there was nothing wrong in asking these questions.

She said, “Women have been great at multitasking and they can do anything. I enjoy the time I have at home and looking after things. The questions aren’t wrong as far as they are a choice. It just has to be about choice. Are you given the same choice as men are? (sic).”
