If there is one voice in B-Town that can make even a silly dialogue sound super, then it is that of actor Amitabh Bachchan. The superstar has on more than one occasion, played the narrator or sutradhar’s role in many films. Hence when makers of Hollywood film John Carter approached Big B for the sutradhar’s role for the Hindi version, he was apparently game. But his health condition has now left him with no choice but to back out.

An industry insider says, “The makers were extremely keen to get  Bachchan on board as the narrator for the Hindi version. He had accepted the offer too, but unfortunately the sudden dip in his health condition just left everyone stumped. However, BigB being a thorough professional, apparently asked the makers to not delay their work because of his ill-health. He suggested they go ahead with some one else for the narrator’s voice over, as the film releases soon.”

And if those close to the film are to be believed, then actor Salman Khan will don the hat of the sutradhar for the film. “Usually actor Shah Rukh Khan was regarded as the next best fit to Amitabh Bachchan, in terms of voiceovers. However, now Salman is being approached for the part in John Carter. The actor however isn’t been able to seal the deal as he is currently in Cuba, shooting for Ek Tha Tiger and things will be clear once he is back to the city, end of this month,” adds the source.

If industrywallahs are to be believed, then its Salman’s series of blockbusters at the box office that have made him the Messiah. “Be it an action film like Wanted or a mad comedy like Ready, Salman can make anything work with his sheer screen presence. And currently he is at the top, so if the makers are trying to rope him for doing the narrator’s voice over, it is not really a surprise. Also since Salman has good base in his voice, he will also suit the part,” say insiders.
