The picture which was accessed by dna on Thursday, shows that Salman was neither wearing a helmet while riding, nor did his scooter have a number plate.

According to the Motor Vehicle Act (1988) in India, the penalties for the above two violations are:

  • First Time Offence: Fine up to Rs 100; Subsequent Offence: Fine up to Rs 300.

Even if this was only for a film shoot, Salman is required to wear a helmet. In fact, if the vehicle was not registered and didn't have a valid permit, it could cost Salman a fine up to Rs 5,000 or imprisonment up to 3 months, or both.

Now for any layman, this would have been a big deal. But Salman, who is not new to facing criminal charges, may just get away with it.
