Sairat, directed by Nagraj Manjule, featuring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, has already made history! Just two weeks after releasing the film has become the highest Marathi grosser, overtaking Mahesh Manjrekar's Natsamarat. Film trade analyst, Taran Adarsh tweeted the weekly collections of the film.

In the first week itself, the number of shows increased from 8,500 to 14,000 in 496 theatres. Bollywood actors have been commending the love story and the encouragement is evident as the director is overwhelmed with joy. "I am overwhelmed. This honour is not just for the movie but for all the admirers of Marathi cinema who have supported it," said Manjule, as reported by the Times of India.

The music for the film has been given by Ajay-Atul and has struck a chord with the viewers. It was also the first time an Indian film's music was recorded at Sony Scoring Studios in Hollywood.

Sairat is a story is about Parshya, a low caste boy falls in love with Archie, the daughter of a rich landlord despite the caste divide. Parshya played by Akash Thosar and Archie played by Rinku Rajguru have been receiving praise galore for their debut performances.

The film released in theatres on April 29.
