He was Bollywood’s quintessential romantic hero. But the ‘was’ makes Rishi Kapoor smile as he points out, ‘Was matlab?

'Romantic toh main abhi bhi hoon yaar!’ Yes, he’s turning a year older, but getting younger at heart. Celebrating his 58 th birthday, the actor says that this time around it’s very special in more than one way. “For once, my dream of working with Neetu again has come true,” he says referring to the film Do Dooni Chaar that is ready for release early next month, where he pairs up with his wife after a gap of 30 years. (Neetu made a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance along with him in Love Aaj Kal but this time it’s a full-fledged one). Also son Ranbir’s film is releasing later this month.

In fact, it’s a rarity in Bollywood to see the parents and the son’s film releasing back-to-back. “Yes, we have two generations in one family releasing their films back-to-back,” Rishi adds. And according to Kapoor senior, this makes it a huge occasion to celebrate.

And celebrate they will. But papa Rishi says that it’s all incomplete since Ranbir is shooting away in Prague and won’t be a part of the celebrations at home. Talking about his forthcoming film with Neetu, he adds, “It’s about the journey of a middle-class couple. Every one will be able to identify with the film as at some point.”

And for his birthday wish-list: “God’s already given me so much, all I can ask for is peace and happiness for everyone,” he says. Well, here’s wishing the ever-romantic star a happy birthday!
