RIP Dev Anand

The ashes of Bollywood’s evergreen star, the late Dev Anand arrived at the Mumbai airport on Wednesday, after which they were taken to Nasik to be immersed in the Godavari river according to Dev’s wishes.

Dev’s son, Sunil, arrived from London carrying his ashes, while his daughter and wife stayed back.

“We are now going to Nasik to immerse his last remains into the Godavari river. We are heading straight from the airport. This is according to his wishes,” said Dev’s former secretary Mohan Churiwala outside the Mumbai international airport.

According to Churiwala, the condolence meeting has been organised at Mehboob studio which has always been one of his favourite studios when he was filming.

“His condolence meeting will be held at the Mehboob studios on Friday (December 16) between 5 to 7 pm. There is a make-up room of Dev saab, which is still there at the studio. Also, there is an emotional connect as he had shot a lot of films there. We have already circulated this information among all his colleagues,” Churiwala added.

The last rites of the star were held in London after he passed away there on December 3 following a heart attack. His last rites were performed on Saturday at the Putney Vale Crematorium in London following a memorial service at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in London on the same day.
