R&B singer Rihanna will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard honour at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards on August 28.

The 28-year-old 'Work' hitmaker is going to perform live at the event in Madison Square Garden in US where she will be honoured with the award, reported Variety.

Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Guns N Roses, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and Kanye West are previous recipients of this award.

The Bajan singer is also a two-time winner of VMA video of the year for her 2007 'Umbrella' and 2012 track 'We Found Love which also featured Calvin Harris.
