Though Renuka has never met the activist, she admires her courage and determination. She is quoted saying, “I am sad that she (Sharmila) is branded a traitor. They were supporting her when she had a tube up her nose and how have disowned her. Why? It is because of her that I know of Armed Forces Special Powers Act.”

Meanwhile, Renuka is also scripting two films, Tribhang, a Marathi-English bilingual, and a Marathi black comedy.
