Rendezvous with Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor!

Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh might not be the perfect couple. And like any couple have had their ups and downs. And despite that, the two are still together after all these years, flaws and all. On a special episode of Rendezvous With Simi Garewal (which is available online), they admitted as much, shared what kept their marriage going, which includes long periods of silence. The reason? Their egos don't allow them to break the ice.

What came across is that there are no perfect marriages. Not even between seemingly perfect people -- Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, for example. Their marriage fell apart in public view. Which is why it was endearing to see Rishi and Neetu squabbling on camera in front of a bemused audience in Melbourne. Neetu came across as the partner in control and was quite candid about the troubles in their marriage. She even squarely blamed Rishi's love for alcohol as the culprit behind their marital differences. Rishi sheepishly accepted.

“We don’t talk for days sometimes,” she told Simi, who couldn’t believe what she just heard. Simi and the Kapoors go back a  long way. Her comfort level with Rishi is there for all to see in this rendezvous filled with the endearing squabbles of a couple that loves to disagree. Neetu spoke about how horrible a boyfriend Rishi  was, and how possessive he is as a husband. What came out during the  half-hour rendezvous was love and trust in the face of acute crises. Neetu was endearingly dismissive of Rishi’s lover-boy image.

The episode also has some heartwarming anecdotes on Neetu’s early days as a Kapoor Bahu when she made efforts to please her in-laws. So what makes Rishi and Neetu  a special couple?The fact that they aren’t trying to be special. The fact that they are not afraid to let the glamorous mask peel off.
