Vishal Bhardwaj's films usually have a limited audience, given that it's very niche. But with Rangoon, the power packed trio of Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan were supposed to get in big numbers.

That has failed to happen. The first day verdict is out and the film opened poorly across all circuits in and around India. Even with the little holiday flavour of Maha Shivratri not doing any good to the period film, Rangoon failed to live up to its expectations.

Rangoon collected in the range of Rs 4.50 - 5 crore which is disastrous for a film that's mounted on such a high scale. The film needs to grow really well in order to recover its investment from here onwards.
