Bollywood star Rajinikanth donated to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund for those affected by the heavy rains in Tamil Nadu.

The donation was made through Sri Raghavendra Public Charitable Trust, owned by Rajinikanth, according to the Indian Express. The actor's son-in-law actor Dhanush also made a donation of five lakhs.

On Wednesday, Chennai, a virtual island and coastal areas of Tamil Nadu were marooned after unprecedented rains in 100 years pounded the city, its suburbs and neighbouring districts destroying road and rail links. The rains also caused shutting of the city airport and rendered thousands homeless and disrupted the livelihood of thousands.
