Raima Sen goes back to her roots

The reclusive yesteryears star Suchitra Sen acknowledges that her grand-daughter Raima Sen looks very much like her. The comparison only flatters Raima.

“She (Suchitra) tells me that I look like her. I feel so flattered when people say that I resemble her. She also loves the fact that I resemble her, though, I personally feel that my mother (actor Moon Moon Sen) looks more like her than me. I think it’s a huge compliment because my grandma has always been regarded as one of the best looking women of her times,” says Raima.

Raima, who has just come back from Shivraj Singh’s (son of Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur) wedding in Jaipur, says that the entire event was like a dream wedding.

“We were put up at the Rambagh Palace and it was a like a dream wedding for any girl. The royal palaces, the fineries and traditional costumes make you feel that you have been transported out of this world. We know him (Shivraj) for so long now, so a wedding in the family (Raima traces her roots to the Tripura Royalty) is a time to get back to your roots and connect with your childhood again,” she adds.

Raima is of course very enthusiastic about her forthcoming film where she is plays a dual role of a character from a fable and a modern woman.

“Vinay (director Vinay Shukla) has made a wonderful film. The film revolves around four short stories subjected on issues of women emancipation, based on a story from the Panchatantra which travels in its various versions to modern times,” she says.

So, does she feel that some women are indeed deceiving like the way it’s portrayed in the film?

“It’s take on women and sexuality. I wouldn’t say it portrays men in a bad light. But it’s just a take on how they behave in certain situations. But yes, if you ask me who’s better when it comes to handling a dicey situation or being in control, it’s definitely women. No doubt about it,” she signs off.
