Pushpa 2 box office collection: Allu Arjun film crosses Rs 1600 crore worldwide, targets Baahubali 2 and Dangal records

Pushpa 2: The Rule continues to dominate the box office. The blockbuster sequel, which is written and directed by Sukumar, has Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil reprising their roles as Pushpa Raj, Srivalli, and Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat from the first part Pushpa: The Rise released in 2021.

The Allu Arjun-starrer has now breached the Rs 1600 crore-mark worldwide. It is the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024 and the third highest-grossing Indian film of all time behind Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Dangal. Prabhas-starrer Baahubali 2 had amassed Rs 1800 crore gross in 2017 and Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal had grossed Rs 2040 crore at the global box office.

Pushpa 2 will now face competition from Varun Dhawan's action-packed drama Baby John. Also starring Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff, the film is set to release in cinemas on December 25 coinciding with Christmas. Backed by Atlee, the Kalees directorial is an adaptation of Thalapathy Vijay-starrer blockbuster Theri, which was helmed by Atlee in 2016.

The Sukumar directorial received overwhelming positive reviews from the audiences and critics. Allu Arjun's performance, solid action set pieces, and massy elevation scenes are its main highlights. Its duration of 3 hours and 20 minutes and impractical climax sequence are its biggest drawbacks. Pushpa 2: The Rule will be followed by Pushpa 3: The Rampage.
