While the Hindi film industry continues its tirade against the menace of piracy, director Priyadarshan has devised a unique way of tackling the issue. He is making a film titled ‘Pirates’, which is about a band of boys and how a threat to their music makes them take up a collective stand against piracy.

And helping him fund the vision is SaharaOne Motion Pictures. This is perhaps the first instance in Hindi cinema where the subject of piracy is touched upon in a movie.

Says Mahesh Ramanathan, CEO, Percept Picture Company, one of the producers, “It will definitely be a commercial subject, with a very humane touch.”

According to a spokesperson from SaharaOne, the film will bring out the real life issues in the music world. The shooting, most probably with new faces to be zeroed down after an extensive talent hunt, will commence in June.
