Painful, sad days for Elizabeth Hurley

Even though the Nayar family in Mumbai are reported as saying they were not in the know of the split in their son Arun Nayar and Hollywood actor Elizabeth Hurley’s marriage, Liz has once again reiterated through Twitter that the split between the two happened some time ago.

“Painful, sad days. Arun and I separated for private reasons but for the record, he has been a great father to our son Damian and will always be in his life,” tweeted Liz on Tuesday, in an attempt to put those rumours to rest that said she was cheating on her husband when she was found snogging cricketer Shane Warne.

Liz had tweeted earlier, following reports of her spending two nights with the cricketer in a high profile hotel,   that her close friends and family were aware that she had separated from husband Arun.

Though reports claim that the family want Arun to take Liz to the cleaners, British tabloid The Sun reported that, “The 45-year-old model and textile tycoon Arun Nayar, 46, are thought to have already drawn up details of their settlement. It will mean both keep their hands off each other’s millions —despite neither signing a pre-nup.”

In Mumbai, the Nayar family still maintains that they don’t want to speak about the break-up.

“He (Vinod Nayar) never spoke anything to anybody. He, in fact, politely excused himself saying that he doesn’t want to speak about it. It is impossible that they didn’t know about the split because both (Liz and Arun) had communicated it to them. Liz is not lying when she is saying that the families are aware about it,” says a source close to the Nayar family.

Vinod and his wife had apparently never shared cordial relations with Liz and in fact, if reports are to be believed, then they were constantly at war with their daughter-in-law.

“Vinod was never quite fond of her. In fact, everybody still speaks about the incident where he got a little tipsy at the wedding reception and it didn’t escape Liz’s attention. The two were not on speaking terms even though Liz did try to make peace with the Nayar family,” the source adds.

It is also said in society circles that Vinod doesn’t have any sway over his son Arun who usually takes his own decisions. Sources say, like always (even when he decided to get married), he will do his own thing based on his own conclusions than listen to what his parents are advising.
