In his quest for the perfect face to play Buddha, film-maker Ashutosh Gowariker for the first time decides to conduct an Internet audition.
Film-maker Ashutosh Gowariker has decided to launch a worldwide hunt to find an actor who can play Buddha. What’s interesting about this search is that Ashutosh has decided to do it online. Still confused? The film-maker will conduct an audition on the Internet to search for his protagonist.Ashutosh says, “I welcome actors from all over the world to visit our website, download the sample scenes and upload your audition videos along with pictures.”The movie focuses on the life of Prince Siddhartha and his journey to enlightenment where he becomes the Buddha.Ashutosh adds, “To portray the innocence of Prince Siddhartha and the compassion of the ‘enlightened one’, I am looking for a fresh face. And hence, this worldwide search.”Sources connected with the big budget film confirmed that this is for the first time a Bollywood film-maker is conducting auditions on the Internet. Ashutosh, sources say, is keen on taking a foreign actor for the role and hence, he has decided to search for his hero on the Internet.
