Ranbir is adamant about it despite being offered huge amounts to change his mind.
In his nine-year Bollywood career, Ranbir Kapoor has worked with many actresses and will be seen with two more — Aishwarya Rai and Anushka Sharma — in his next. But not in ads. He refuses to act with any Bollywood actress, his real-life girlfriend or even a random actress from the industry for TV commercials.
And he’s adamant about it despite being offered huge amounts to change his mind. A source from the ad world reveals, “Ranbir has never done and will not do an ad with a Bollywood actress. The only exception has been Shruti Haasan, but she is hardly Bollywood. He has no problem shooting with someone from the South.”
The source further adds, “In the last five years, he has turned down at least 10 brands who have offered him ads with various heroines, including with Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone.”
Although couples who endorse brands together get paid a premium, RK has stayed away from it. He feels that the product gets lost in the bargain as the focus is more on the couple and their chemistry. The source continues, “So you will find him doing solo ads or with models. At least for now, that’s his plan but who knows what happens later! Priorities and people change..”
NO MEANS NO!
Apart from not shooting with actresses, Ranbir is also very clear that he will never endorse anti-dandruff shampoos. A few years ago, he was offered an anti-dandruff ad (currently endorsed by Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan) along with a top actress he was dating at the time, but the actor refused. According to the source, “Ranbir is against such ads as he finds them tacky. He also won’t endorse alcohol, gutka and cosmetic products that claim to make people’s faces and hair better-looking.”
