The 28-year-old, who has sung and co-written the new single 'Sledgehammer' for the upcoming Star Trek Beyond film, said her father introduced her to the popular franchise, reported Digital Spy.

"Star Trek has been a part of my life since I was a little girl," Rihanna said.

The Barbadian songstress seemed excited to record the new track for the upcoming movie of the franchise.

"My dad really is the one who introduced me to Star Trek. It just took me one episode to fall in love with this other world that I couldn't understand, but I felt I could relate to. It never left me, so it wasn't like just doing a song for any random film," she added.

'Sledgehammer' was released earlier this week, while music video duo will be shown in IMAX cinemas across the globe.
