NASA administrator, Charles Bolden, paid a touching tribute to Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy, who recently died after suffering lung disease.
NASA administrator, Charles Bolden, paid a touching tribute to Star Trek actor Leonard Nimoy, who recently died after suffering lung disease.
Bolden issued a statement which mentioned that Nimoy, who was known for his role as Spock in the original Star Trek series (1966–69), was an inspiration to multiple generations of engineers, scientists, astronauts, and other space explorers and as Mr Spock. He made science and technology important to the story, while never failing to show.
NASA was fortunate to have the American actor as a friend and a colleague and he was much more than the Science Officer for the USS Enterprise, he further added. The statement also cited that Nimoy was a talented actor, director, philanthropist and a gracious man dedicated to art in many forms and so NASA's thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the legions of Star Trek fans around the world.
