While the response to their latest film has been immensely encouraging, we wonder what made director duo Krishna DK and Raj Nidimoru come up with the content that has been the talk of town for their film Shor In The City.

Krishna says, “Raj and I were in the US, working as software engineers, for over a decade and when we came back, we landed up in Mumbai. If you don’t belong to the city and are there for the first time, you will find that the city hits you! Everything gets to you, especially the chaotic lifestyle that people seem so used to. This very chaos was what made us tell the story of Mumbai. However, we did not want to make a documentary. Instead, we wanted to try and show the city in a different light.”

After settling down on the subject, the duo conducted an intensive research that looked into interesting newspaper anecdotes which were unbelievable but true. “We interacted with a lot of people too and got to know how cricket selections happen. We spoke to cricket coaches to get their side of the story. We went to ladies bars and even ended up shooting at one of them,” recalls Krishna. “We had a lot of characters as part of the first draft, but only the characters that stood the test of time remained in what you see in the film today,” informs Krishna.

“We believe that everyone is crazy about films and we grew up on a good dose of it,” says Krishna, whose first film was an Indo-American venture called Flavours. “We are now all set to begin work on our third film together and this time around, it is being produced by actor Saif Ali Khan’s home banner. Actor Kunal Khemu will be playing the lead role in that one,” is all that Krishna prefers to disclose right now.
