Mumbai celebs pitch in for the girl child on International Girl Child Day

Three leading Indian designers — Archana Kochhar, Krsna Mehta, Wendell Rodricks — and two leading jewellery corporate houses have joined hands for the cause of the orphaned kids of the slained Jawans of the Army. The designers have chosen International Girl Child Day (which is today) to put their weight behind Indian Princess — a beauty pageant for college students.

A part of the proceeds from the profit of this beauty pageant will go towards girls coming from poor families and orphans.

“It is a beauty contest that is set to create a platform for emerging talent and creating awareness for the cause of the girl child. The presence of acclaimed designers namely Archana Kochhar, Krsna Mehta, Wendell Rodricks and two leading jewellery houses have taken the contest to the next level attracting the niche and high end target audience. Actor Sayali Bhagat has also been invited to be a consultant,” says a spokesperson.

“It will provide a platform to the beauties from all over India to showcase their talent. The event will have live performances by Bollywood celebrities and be they’ll walk the ramp thereby providing glamour to the show. This is for the first time that the contest is focused on the cause by having the army officer’s wives too walking the ramp along with film celebs, as show stoppers,” says the spokesperson.
