According to law enforcement sources Shahlavi, who had appeared in TV shows including Mortal Kombat: Legacy and Arrow, was found dead on January 14 at his Los Angeles home, and it looked like he had taken overdose of his prescription meds, TMZ.com reported.

The LA County Coroner is now conducting tests to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, Arrow star Stephen Amell, who had fought Shahlavi on the show's first episode, paid respect to the star by writing that he was "great dude and a patient, thoughtful partner, RIP Darren Shahlavi".

Shahlavi reportedly had a history of drug and alcohol abuse. He had a career as a stuntman in Hong Kong in the '90s, and moved to the US to begin his acting career.
