South Indian superstar Mohanlal (a two-time National Award winner) is teaming up with martial arts superstar Jackie Chan for the film Nair San. It is based on the true story of a freedom fighter of Indian origin, Ayyappan Pillai Madhavan Nair, known as Nair San in Japan. Mohanlal will be playing Nair San—a boy born to a Tamil father and a Malayalee mother who grew up to become one of the most prominent figures in the freedom struggle of Asia and India against the British.

The film is being directed by Albert, a young director from Tamil Nadu whose debut film Kanne Madanguka bagged three Kerala State Awards.

The film will be made in the Japanese language. Sources also reveal that the movie will then be dubbed in Malayalam too.

“Yes, I will be working with Jackie Chan in Nair San. We commence shooting shortly. The film will be shot in Japanese. Though I know the language, it will be a challenge to deliver all the dialogues in Japanese,” confirms Mohanlal on the sidelines of the premiere of his film Aakasha Gopuram (Castle in the Air) in Kochi.

So is Mohanlal kicked about teaming up with the king of martial arts, also a popular actor? “I’m looking forward to meeting Jackie and sharing screen space with him,” says Mohanlal.  He adds, “Jackie’s inclusion in the movie was not only to increase the star power. He has a substantial role in the film.”

Jackie had earlier teamed up with Mallika Sherawat for the Hollywood film The Myth.
