The actor, who attended a football match of his alma mater, hung around campus post match.

He was participating in the University's SURE Walk programme, which offers free rides to students heading home after a late night, reported the Entertainment Weekly.

"Longhorns take care of each other, and it's 'safe' to say Matthew McConaughey agrees. Don't forget to use SURE Walk when traveling home late at night; you never know who might pick you up! #BeSafe #SafeChats," The University of Texas Student Government posted with a picture of the actor sitting on the driver's seat.

McConaughey's next film, Gold, will be released on Christmas.
