The Kannada director is now working on a mystery thriller on road safety.
Kannada director Pawan Kumar was all set to work on his next film, C10 H14 N2. However, lack of funds had him put the project on hold and start work on a mystery thriller called U-Turn, which is a film on road safety. As news broke out about this film, the director took to his Facebook page to explain why.
Pawan Kumar wrote out '10 fun facts' on his Facebook page:
1. I had to postpone C10 H14 N2 due to budget constraints. I couldn't get the money I needed to make it the way it was written. Didn't want to compromise... hence pushed it for next year.
2. I wrote U Turn a mystery thriller, really quick (just in about 3 days I had the first draft ready). Got very excited, got good feedback and had enough budgets to produce this one... so started making this film and kept the script of C10 H14 N2 back in the drawer.
3. Kept all info about this film under wraps... wanted to come with the trailer and hopefully surprise my followers. (that's not happening now though.... so early surprise).
4. Shraddha Srinath - the new girl to follow now. She is the lead actress of the film... auditioned her... and finally cast her. Quite a tough decision because I was banking on a new actor to carry the entire film and thankfully... she did do well... beyond our expectations.
5. Radhika of Rangitaranaga plays a very important role in the film... so does Dilip Raj and Roger Narayan. We also have many other actors from Project Lucia in this film.
6. We are done shooting the film, just have 2 - 3 days of patch work left. Done with the first cut, soon to start dubbing. Yes, we did all this in just about 3 months.
7. The film is produced by Audience Films in collaboration with Pawan Kumar Studios... a production house I started in collaboration with a few investors. Next year we'd be looking at producing few more films... so get your scripts ready :).
8. This film has no songs... the story didn't demand for it... and I just struck to that. It's going to be quite a challenge to market the film without songs... but I have faith in you people... and hoping that we'd be supported.
9. My original draft had a male protagonist. But after a few rewrites and after receiving feedback from friends, it was changed to a female character. And the script looked a lot better. So... more to women power ;)
10. Hoping to come out with the first look and the trailer soon... tried bringing the film by December... but now I guess it will be early next year. There is so much to do... and don't want to rush and spoil the final film.
