South actor Chiranjeevi played a honest cop in his Bollywood debut film in 1990 and now his son Ram is following his footsteps by essaying a similar role in his first Hindi movie. Almost a decade and a half ago, film Pratibhandh launched Telugu heartthrob Chiranjeevi in Bollywood, as a hard nosed honest cop.

Now after 23 years, Ram Charan Teja will also be seen in the avatar of a honest cop who battles his way to eliminate the deadly cartels of Oil Mafia (Prakash Raj) and protects the eyewitness (Priyanka Chopra) of a murder in the city in the remake version of Zanjeer.

The film is a remake of megastar Amitabh Bachchan's hit 1973 film Zanjeer, which saw Big B playing a cop and Jaya Bachchan his love interest.The new one, directed by Apoorva Lakhia stars Priyanka , Prakash Raj, Mahie Gill, Atul Kulkarni and Sanjay Dutt. It releases on September 6 this year.
