Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is all set to play the role of the founder director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in a new movie to be directed by Clint Eastwood.

The Titanic actor will team up for the first time with Eastwood, who has agreed to take on as the director for the movie tentatively titled Hoover, based on the life of J Edgar Hoover and produced by Warner Bros., reports Aceshowbiz.com.

"He going to spread his wings," a studio source said. Hoover is written by Milk scriptwriter Dustin Lance Black.

DiCaprio has once portrayed a famous American when he took on the role of Howard Hughes in The Aviator. But the J Edgar Hoover role may be something new to him, as the crime-fighting figure was rumoured to be a cross-dresser despite his masculine image.

However, it is unclear whether the film will explore the darker side of the man who was instrumental in founding the FBI.
