Jammu and Kashmir is gearing up for one of the biggest cinematic extravaganzas in Leh-Ladakh.
The three-day Ladakh International Film Festival (LIFF) will kick off on September 13 in the cold desert of Leh. The second edition of the LIFF will showcase award-winning and critically-acclaimed films from various parts of the country and abroad.
Teri Mc Luhan’s award winning documentary Frontier Gandhi: Badshah Khan, A Torch for Peace and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag will be part of the Green Carpet Premier.
The jury for LIFF 2013 will be headed by filmmaker Aparna Sen. Paul Smaczny (Emmy winner), Vimukhti Jayasundara (Palm d’Or), Alireza Shahrokhi (Iran) and Teri McLuhan (Canada) are the jury members.
Around 120 films from across the globe will be screened at the festival.
The highlight of the festival will be the Ladakhi section, wherein six films, including five short ones, will be showcased. Tsering Motup Chospa’s feature film Lzadol (broken piece of moon), with its central theme of women’s strength, patience and wit against the evils of the day, will be the centre of attraction in the Ladakhi section.
