Kriti Kharbanda jealous of Diganth's role in new Kannada flick

Her first Kannada film, Chirru, won her good reviews. But actress Kriti Kharbanda hasn’t been in any tearing hurry to sign films.

Much over a year after its release, she’s signed her second Kannada film, an untitled project opposite current flavour Diganth. “I’m excited about this film, I loved the script when I heard it,” says Kriti.

Talking about her role in this Rockline Venkatesh production, being directed by newcomer Raghavendra Naik, she says, “It is a something that appealed to me. The makers approached me because they felt that I could carry off a performance oriented role in Chirru. The role is of an independent and self-centred girl, which is the exact opposite of what I am. I’m sure this will be a good film.”

Revealing a little secret, Kriti adds, “While listening to the script was the first time that I wished I was a man. Diganth’s role in this film is amazing. I almost said to myself, why not ask him to wear the saris and I step into his shoes. The role is amazing. I know I’ll have to work twice as hard to not be sidelined in this film.”

Kriti is glad that she’s working with Diganth, because she already shares a comfortable rapport with him. “Diganth and I began our modelling careers around the same time. I remember we were paired together in our first television commercial, which was for Haywards soda. We’ve done around five commercials together. He and I share a good rapport, which is required according to me, if you’re to act together in a film,” says she.

And she’s also quite kicked that she may soon end up doing another film in Kannada. “I heard a new script two days ago. If everything goes well, then I could be working on two Kannada films simultaneously,” Kriti signs off.
