Sanjay Leela Bhansali's road to the making of his movie Padmavati starring Deepika Padukone has not been all that smooth. The movie has already faced threats from the Rajput outfit Shri Rajput Karni Sena in the past and the production of the movie has also faced some troubles. The Karni Sena recently gave another stern warning to Bhansali and his team. Karni Sena founder Lokendra Singh Kalvi told the Deccan Chronicle “In case, a controversial shot is added to the upcoming movie Padmavati, the country won’t tolerate it.”

The leader also talked about how communities like theirs were struggling with reservations. “Marathas in Maharashtra, Patidars in Gujarat are demanding reservation. We are going to join hands with such communities to drum up support to make our presence felt to the government. We are not demanding that reservation should be given on financial status. Right now we are demanding review of the reservation to find out the communities benefited by it and the people who had failed to reap its benefit,”  was what Kalvi was quoted saying.

During the shooting of the film in January 2017 in Jaipur, the members of the Karni Sena protested at sets at Jaigarh Fort, alleging that Bhansali depicted wrong facts in the film. On March 15, a group of unidentified vandals, suspected to be a part of the Karni Sena, again attacked and set fire to the sets of the movie in Kolhapur.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati starring Deepika Padukone as the title character Rani Padmini will also feature Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. The movie will be out in theatres on November 17, 2017.
