It came as a shock for most when the lead actor Karan Grover’s character in ‘Sarrthi’ (Star Plus) was suddenly killed. Though this twist was shown as a natural progression of the story, apparently it was a strategic move to oust actor Karan Grover from the show.

Karan explains, “I have been on ‘Sarrthi’ since its inception. But I had to move on. My new show ‘Meri Awaaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni’ didn’t allow me much time for ‘Saarthi’. So I decided to quit it. I told its producer Asit Modi about my predicament and he thankfully understood it. Hence, they decided to kill my character. I served a two-month notice from March 10 to May 15 so there is not bad blood between us.”

However, producer Asit Modi does not share the same sentiments. When contacted, he says, “No one can tell me their priorities.  I will not compromise with my story. If the story demands than Karan will have to come back to the show. We can bring him back”. He insists that Karan’s ouster is in fact the high point of the show. “My story is strong and people are not going to stop watching the show just because Karan is not a part of the show anymore. In fact the TRP of Saarthi is much higher than that of Meri Awaaz Ko…,” he adds.

Apparently, there are rumours that his show is wrapping up? He remarks, “It is absolutely false. Just because we have killed Arjun doesn’t mean we are closing down. We have got no indication from the channel either. And why should we? The show is 550 episodes old and yet we have a lot of story-telling in us. In fact, the show is doing very well even in the afternoon slot.”
